CLASSES, SCHEDULE & PRICING

I thought I was fit. I could run long distance at a fair pace and still hold a conversation at the same time. I could hold 'plank' for ages...

But it's yoga that has brought more awareness to my body, and when to listen to it, knowing when to back off and when I can push my edge.

And don't underestimate yoga's power psychologically – Yoga will teach you how to integrate the body, the breath, and the mind to stay focused and calm, however fast the world is spinning.

ASHTANGA / HATHA CLASS (LEVEL 2)

Be prepared to sweat, and have fun!

Ashtanga Yoga is a highly structured 'vinyasa' yoga style class, following the Ashtanga Primary Series (a set sequence of poses). Vinyasa is a dynamic form of yoga which synchronises breath and movement, building an internal heat to purify the body.

Traditionally an Ashtanga class follows a sequence, called the Ashtanga Primary Series.  I will teach the poses in the Primary Series, as well as adding other challenging poses as your strength and flexibility grows.

We will work together to build your understanding of the set poses (asana), and as you build strength and flexibility through your regular practice, I will turn up the heat, physically speaking!  We will have some fun, looking at some of the more technical poses too.

I will provide modifications for your ability, but you will need to have had some yoga experience prior to attending this class.

RUNNER'S YOGA (ALL LEVELS)

If you are a runner, or keen on sport, and you think that yoga's not for you, then you need to get to this class!

Sports injuries can be induced by lack of flexibility and low body awareness. I'm a runner too and I know how important yoga is to keeping my body well-balanced and healthy – and my mind too.

But how do you build flexibility if all you do is run (or bike, or swim)? Are you aware of the benefits of cross-training? Add yoga to your training schedule and feel for yourself how it improves your sporting performance, and endurance.

These classes are for all levels, no experience is necessary, and I will provide modifications for your ability. The class will focus on the areas of the body that are problem spots for runners, and active people.

Don't let those tight hamstrings hold you back!

...Tennis Player, Swimmer, Golfer?

Let me know if you favour another sport when you sign up, and I can adapt the class to include beneficial poses for your body.

TESTIMONIALS:

Rob Ayliffe,

Singapore

Emma's classes focus on stretches and yoga techniques relevant to the runner. I started her yoga sessions when I was unable to run for a couple of months due to injury and muscle strain. The yoga has certainly helped my recovery, as well as minimising any further injuries. Another benefit is that I believe yoga has developed my running technique, and the result of that is that I recently beat my Parkrun PB!

Claire,

Emma and I met in our running group and I witnessed her aspiration to do yoga for runners transform into a thorough education and then a business. I was pleased to focus exactly where my runner needs were, mostly without having to explain much. After the classes, I felt that I had truly stretched all the while exercising the core muscles required for my running. I truly enjoyed Emma’s classes and am pleased that they can be offered to many more apprentice or confirmed yogis.

"Anyone can practice. Young man can practice. Old man can practice. Very old man can practice. Man who is sick, he can practice. Man who doesn't have strength can practice. Except lazy people; lazy people can't practice Ashtanga yoga."
